A technical masterpiece: nomag®IC advanced

With the ground-breaking development of their MR diagnostics incubator for the transport and MR examination of infants, Luebeck’s own LMT Medical Systems GmbH has revolutionized pediatric radiology. Situated at the intersection of radiology and neonatology, the system allows premature babies and unstable newborns to be transported directly from the NICU into the MR suite for examination by optimal, non-invasive Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Before, infants with intensive medical care needs, and especially babies born before the 37th week of pregnancy, were unable to undergo an MR examination safely.

Even better functionality in a new generation

In this new generation, the MR Diagnostics Incubator System nomag®IC advanced, LMT Medical Systems GmbH has brought functionality many steps forward. Patient access and noise protection in the MR scanner were improved, a wider patient bed and reduced overall weight of the incubator. Just as with previous models, the life-sustaining incubator provides the required ambient temperature and humidity level for the baby, optimizing protection during transport and the MR examination.

Cooperation with the leading MRT manufacturers

The nomag®IC advanced is compatible with the devices of the leading MRT manufacturers. It can be easily attached to the corresponding MR devices. The functional reliability has been officially tested and approved.

A multi-channel head coil ensures exceptional picture quality. Any brain damage can therefore be detected quickly. The basic equipment also includes a trolley with an independent power and gas supply for convenient transport to the radiology department.

No. Only MR-coils supplied by LMT may be used. These MR-coils are specially designed for the incubator climate and are approved for compatibility with the MR incubator.

The nomag®IC advanced is suitable for newborn and premature babies weighing up to 4,500 g and a maximum body length of around 55 cm.

 

Yes, as long as they are the same scanner type and the compatible software is installed at every scanner. Every coil is coordinated to the requirements of the relevant scanner manufacturer and the field strength.

Yes, the nomag® IC advanced 3.0T can be used for both, on 1.5T and 3.0T MRI scanners, thanks to its special design. However, it must be combined with the MR coil, which is appropriate for the scanner type and the field strength.

Yes. The MR incubator, trolley and gas supply can be wheeled into the MR-room.

Thanks to the MR incubator, the noise level inside of the patient room is lowered by around 12 – 15 dB (A). The additional use of ear protection (MiniMuffs®) means that a total reduction of up to 20 dB (A) is achieved.

Over the last 8 years, users of the MR incubator system in a clinical context have no longer considered a general anaesthetic as being necessary for performing the MR examination in the nomag®IC advanced. Thanks to the stable climate, the noise reduction and all precautionary measures being taken on the NICU, the entire examination can be performed without a general anaesthetic. In the case of very small patients, it has proven very helpful to immobilise their feet directly before the examination. Larger and/or older newborns may require mild sedation.
